2020/2021 HEADBOY’S FAREWELL SPEECH

SEGUN FALUSI -Headboy 2021

HEADBOY
SEGUN FALUSI (Headboy 2021)

I was being appointed as the head boy of Ade-Ola International School at this same time last year. Now, in Year 13 at ADE-OLA International School, I’m here saying my thank you and goodbye speech, which really does make me quite sad, yet excited to move onto new adventures.

The opportunities I have been given at of Ade-Ola International School have been absolutely phenomenal. I really cannot thank all the staff, management and students enough for this. To finish my Secondary School journey as Head Boy has been a dream come true; I’m not sure that I would have had these same opportunities anywhere else. It is because this school has so much interest in enriching us to be all rounded individuals that these opportunities arise.

Every day, I walk through the school gates with a feeling that I am cared for, with the presence of a huge sense of community. When I leave this school today, every day for a long time, something will feel missing in my life.

I want to thank the staff, the management, the students of Ade-Ola International School and as well as my loving classmates. I’m going to miss the times we had together in

class. The times we played football on the field, even though I’m not really good at it anyway, the times we correct each other in love, the times we spend together as friends and as classmates.

All the bestie, twinnie, sister, brother, my gee, wagwan, and all those slangs. I hope they don’t just end today. We are parting now moving to our various destinations in life. Yes, there are still going to be calls and texts to check on each other but I know the feeling won’t be the same anymore. Friends go and come but family is forever. We are one family with love. I mean we are not just one family. We are one ‘LARGE’ family. I mean take a look at the number. We don’t just have a number but we have a number full with love and that love is spread across the whole school. The teachers, the students and even the management can testify to that. All we just want to say is that we love you all.

A message to all students: Just keep being who you are. Because life isn’t all about what you are but who you are. We know what we want to become but at times we don’t realize who we become after achieving it. Life takes you places and you can’t tell where you find yourself, just keep being who you are. You are made specifically for a purpose. Every person seated here has a unique purpose. So don’t set a standard for yourself saying you want to be like someone. You should always say you want to be better than someone rather than saying you want to be like that someone. You are only setting a standard for yourself and limiting yourself for other things. You were not created to be a photocopy but the original version of yourself. Choose your lifestyle and not someone else’s. Be good, be cheerful, be focused and most importantly love one another.

Our Parents we love you. Thank you for the support and for everything we’ve been through. We love you deeply. God bless the staffs, the management, the students, our adoring parents. God bless Ade-Ola International School and God bless Nigeria. Thank you and goodbye.
